Mini Wars - Brits take on French at Brands Mini Festival

Mini Wars - Brits take on French at Brands Mini Festival

Battling the French started in 1066 and has never really stopped but at Brands Hatch in June the Tricolour and Union Jack will be waved as heroic drivers fight for victory in an epic Mini battle.

Over the June 16/17th weekend a grid of 32 FIA Appendix K Minis will scrabble and fight for every inch of advantage around the Brands Indy circuit as the best of the Brit pre ’65 Mini racers take on a dozen Frenchmen who will also be fighting for honours in their French Trophee Mini Classic.

“A full grid of historic Minis dicing around the Brands Indy circuit is going to be brilliant,” says Nick Swift bursting with enthusiasm, “ the Goodwood all-Historic Mini race was fabulous and I know the French will be coming to beat us!”

Swiftune’s Historic Mini races forms part of the exciting inaugural Mini Festival at Brands Hatch. Swiftune’s long term technical partner Kent Cams and Japanese Mini parts specialist Sanwa Trading are jointly sponsoring the Anglo French race. There will be two 25 minute races with the times combined to determine the final results. Underlining the prestige of the Sanwa Trading/Kent Cams races there will be Motors TV coverage so enthusiasts can follow all of the door-handle to door-handle action.

In addition to Minis, Riley Elfs and Wolsely Hornets will be allowed to enter by invitation. Swifty to his friends will not be racing in the event but has promised to put an “interesting” driver behind the wheel of his freshly built FIA Mini.

For Japan’s legion of Mini enthusiasts Sanwa Trading needs no introduction as it has sold Mini parts for almost 30 years. Standard and performance parts are sold through 380 Mini Shops and former Rover dealers.

Not only does Kent Cams produce all of Swiftune’s race-winning camshafts, it is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of camshafts, contributing to the success of professional teams in WRC,WTCC, WSB, BSB, ERC, ETCC and BTCC.
