Mini hillcimber Vince Stone wanted a Swiftune dog engagement kit fitted to the weightweight Mini he hillclimbs with his wife Emma but also he realised he needed help with the sick 1380cc engine.
Evaluating a customer’s existing engine and making cost effective improvements is something Swiftune has lots of experience of.
Swiftune re-built the engine adding some key Swiftune competition parts including an ultra lightweight flywheel, forged 73.5mm pistons, an SW23 camshaft, a new 5in inlet manifold and re-developed the cylinder head to match it to the cam and Weber carb.
The result was a torquey 140bhp engine which Vince immediately started winning with. Wins in the modified production class have already been notched up at Wiscombe Park and Mamhead climbs in Devon.
“The engine has been transformed and Nick’s attention to detail in building the engine is phenomenal,” enthused Vince. In addition to the Swiftune dog engagement transmission Stone's car had all carbon fibre body panels and a beam rear axle to save weight.
