Swiftune engines have won a remarkable eight of the last 10 Dunlop Mini Miglia Championships following Andy Hack's victory in the 2008 championship after winning the final round by just 0.25sec. Runner-up Ralph Saunders helped Swiftune to an impressive one-two in the Miglia championship which was even more competitive than last year with up to six drivers quick enough to win races.
Hack was determined to stamp his authority on this year's championship and did in so uncertain terms scoring six wins, a second and third and a Senna-like seven pole positions! "The Swiftune engine was superb, a lot better this year , much more consistent with improved longevity," explained the champion. Incredibly neither Hack nor Saunders ever got their spare engines out of the transporter all season!
Having never bettered seventh in the Miglia championship the 2008 season was memorable for Saunders. "The Swiftune engine made all the difference, everyone could see that and it was the turning point for me, " reflected Ralph. Six podiums in a 10 race season is great result for the Oxfordshire racer.
"It was, as Andy says, an unbelieveably close Miglia season with just 0.8 seconds separating the first four cars at the final round," said Nick Swift, "so I am delighted Swiftune finished first and second in Miglias, the F1 of the Mini racing world."
